New analysis of macadamia research released
Scientific research into macadamia nuts is growing and paints an increasingly rich picture of their incredible health benefits.
While more research is still needed, the growing body of scientific data provides producers, processors and consumers with useful insights into the fantastic nutritional value of macadamias.
Over the past three years, the WMO has partnered with U.S.-based nutritionist Denise Canellos MS and food scientist Denise Webster MS to review key scientific research, United States (U.S.) regulations, and nutritional analysis to support the creation and evolution of a nutritional and health narrative on the benefits of macadamias.
We are pleased to have recently completed our third research review, covering more than 120 available scientific research reports. The studies included in this review examined both macadamias specifically, and the health effects of the nutrients contained in macadamias.
The resulting analysis highlights that macadamias have a nutritional profile perfectly aligned with the growing consumer focus on whole foods and the importance of good fats, and this research review helps us further the conversation on their health and nutritional benefits.
The report details the assessment of the health benefits of macadamia nuts, the importance of their nutrients, scientific reviews, and summarises an industry-aligned nutritional narrative that can be used to evolve consumer understanding over time.
We are pleased to have shared this report with our members and Strategic Foundations Committee representatives.
Non-members who have an interest in the nutrition of macadamias and would like a copy of the report can contact us for a copy.
